The Lumon story

Only the memory of the clucking of chickens remained in a former henhouse in Outokumpu when Pohjois-Karjalan Lasipalvelu started a window renovation business in the premises in 1978. At first, the company focused on the region of North Karelia. The business stumbled at first, and the earnings were just not enough to cover the expenses.

In hopes of a better future, the company moved to Kymenlaakso in 1981. Under the name of Ikkunanikkarit Ky, the company established its position as the number one window renovator for single-family homes and blocks of flats.

The overheating of the construction industry and the recession that followed gave the company a new opportunity. Lumon balcony glazing quickly became a household name with which balconies were given "a new life", just as our promotional slogan stated at the time.
